YES Is a Political Gimmick Meant To Dole Out Monies To NDC Foot Soldiers Atik

The Youth Enterprise Support (YES) launched by President Mahama has been met with lots of applause in many quarters but a Policy Analyst of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) has expressed misgivings with what he describes as the "duplication of existing schemes". According to Atik Mohammed, YES is another political gimmick by the Mahama-led administration meant to dole out monies to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDCs') foot soldiers. YES is a duplication of existing schemes like the MASLOC which was set up to distribute cars to NDC foot soldiers, which they did not even pay back, he told NEAT FM. In his view, this is not a scheme that is tailored to empower the youth but an attempt by the Mahama administration to throw money at the youth because he has fallen out with them. President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday took a major step towards fulfilling his agenda for the young people of the country with the launch of the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) initiative. An initial amount of GH10million has been set aside to be accessed by qualified youth but the out-spoken PNC Policy analyst believes a comprehensive policies targeting the youth of Ghana would be more appropriate than setting up schemes that would only be accessible by NDC party members.
