Fraud Victims Attack Fetish Priest

A GROUP of persons who have been defrauded by a fetish priest at Okorase near Koforidua in the Eastern region over the weekend stormed the shrine of Okomfo Anokye Ketewa to demand their monies amounting to GH40,000.00. The six victims say they have been defrauded by the fetish priest of monies ranging between GH1,400.00 and GH8,000.00. When the victims stormed the shrine, the fetish priest ordered his guards to attack the victims who in turn rushed to the police to lodge a complaint. Attempts made by the police to arrest the fetish priest proved futile as he sneaked out of the shrine upon seeing the police. Investigations conducted by the DAILY HERITAGE indicated that some of the victims who have fallen into the trap of the suspect are from different parts of the country due to the suspects advertisement on Television. The modus operandi of the fetish priest is collection of huge monies from his victims under the pretext of doubling it for them. However, he fails to double the money but uses macho men to terrorize his victims. Oklu and Dziwonu, businessmen both from the Volta region told the paper that, they paid GH5,000.00 each to the fetish priest with a promise of getting it doubled for them. Another victim, one Attah who hails from Accra said he paid GH1,400.00 to the fetish priest with assurance of multiplying it. The victims explained that upon seeing the advertisement on Television, they explained their problems to the fetish priest on phone and he asked them to bring any amount for doubling which they obliged. However, after weeks of giving the monies to the fetish priest and performing all the necessary rituals, the fetish priest has failed to neither double the monies nor refund them, despite all efforts made. One of the female victims told the DAILY HERITAGE that, she was made to bath naked in the presence of the fetish priest and his aids on the midnight of Wednesday to climax rituals for her money to be doubled, but no money has been doubled. The angry victims say if the police fail to arrest the fetish priest, they will re-organize and hire thugs to crush the fetish priest and his macho men. The Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Yaagy Akuriba, said the Police Command has received a number of such cases and therefore called on the public to desist from giving monies to spiritualists to double them since it is a scam.
