Effah-Dartey: NPP Should Simply Select Nana Addo As 2016 Flagbearer

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party [NPP], Captain Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey says the party should simply pick its two-time presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as flagbearer for the 2016 elections. His suggestion is premised on the magnitude of Nana Akufo-Addos resounding victory chalked at Sundays Super Delegates Conference. Speaking on Asempa FM, moments after the provisional results trickled in and even before the official declaration of the 2008 and 2012 flagbearer as winner of the polls, the former NPP legislator opined that other aspirants vying to lead the elephant know their ambition will be impossible so long as Nana Addo is in the contest. He noted that, all those contesting Nana Addo are just preparing themselves for some years to come when Nana Addo is not contesting anymore. Its an agenda they are settingthat might help them though. After hearing news of the provisional results from the Eastern Region, where Alan Kyeremanten polled only two votes compared to Nanas 77 votes, Capt. Effah-Dartey suggested that NPP should just make Nana Addo our flagbearer for 2016. We are just wasting time on this flagbearership contest. In a related development, official results indicate that out of 740 ballots cast, Nana Akufo-Addo polled 598 votes, representing 80.78%, with his closest contender Alan Kyerematen obtaining a paltry tally of 59 votes representing 7.98 per cent. Addai Nimoh and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joe Ghartey both obtained 22 votes each which is 2.98% of total votes cast, while Osei Ameyaw managed 16 votes (2.17%) to pick up the last ticket to the October 18 national delegates conference. Former Information Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng (13 votes) and former Trade Minister Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku (10 votes) have dropped out of the race with 1.76% and 1.35% respectively.
