Interview With Sefa Kayi...Why Osei-Ameyaw Pulled Out(AUDIO)

Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, one of the four contesting for the Presidential Position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, officially announced his withdrawal from the race and offered his unflinching support to the lead contender, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Osei-Ameyaw who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Asuogyaman in the Eastern Region, at a Press Conference on Thursday, 11th September, 2014, indicated that the result of the super delegates conference on August 31, clearly portrayed Nana Addo, who garnered nearly 81% of the total valid votes cast; as the overwhelming choice of the delegates. Explaining why he decided to pull out of the race, Osei-Ameyaw told Kwami Sefa Kayi that prior to the Super Delegates Congress in August, he went on a tour across the regions and the delegates assured him that he will be part of the final five; however after that he should fight for unity and support Nana Addo for 2016. Before picking the forms, I did not do any consultations. I went through all the processes. During my tour, the delegates told me they will ensure that I will be part of the top five but afterwards, I have to ensure that there is peace in the party by allowing one person, Nana Addo to contest for the presidential position I dont want to pre-empt anything and I dont know the kind of research the other candidates have done but per my research, NPP delegates wants victory in 2016 and they want Akufo Addo Click on the audio above and listen to Osei-Ameyaw on Kokrokoo.
