We Need Political Power

Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been asked to carefully choose a flagbearer in the partys elections slated for October 18. Frank Opoku Adjapong, a leading member of the NPP in the Brong-Ahafo Region, who stormed DAILY GUIDE offices in Sunyani on Thursday, noted that the NPP currently needs political power and not a personality. Anybody who becomes the flagbearer of the party after the October 18 Congress can be marketed by the party to become a popular figure in the country so as to win the 2016 general elections, the NPP guru stated. Mr. Adjapong indicated that in politics every political party wants to win and consolidate power, but not to create factionalism based on personalities. He therefore appealed to the delegates to examine the various aspirants and vote wisely for the right person in next months congress. Mr. Adjapong, who claimed to be a supporter of Nana Akufo-Addo, said though the two-time presidential candidate of party was the most popular politician among the aspirants, there were some greedy and selfish individuals in the party were creating serious problems for the party in the name of the NPP stalwart. Mr. Alan Kyeremanten appeals to floating voters and disgruntled members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). He called for a probe into why some NDC followers were backing Alan Kyeremanten instead of Akufo-Addo. Mr. Adjapong cautioned the NPP to take the 2016 elections seriously despite the economic mismanagement by the Mahama administration. According to him, Ghanaians would not look at the economic crisis; its up to the delegates.
