All You Need To Know About Your Eye (VIDEO)

Refractive error is a common eye disorder that occurs when the eye cannot clearly focus on images. Speaking to Tweneboa Koduah on UTV, Dr Desmond Akuffo, an Optometrist at Robert & Sons said hough it cannot be prevented, it can be treated with corrective glasses, contact lenses or a refractive surgery. According to him, Ghana does not have the equipment to undergo a refractive surgery but anyone with a refractive error in the country can choose between a corrective glass or contact lenses. The four most common refractive errors are: myopia (shortsightedness): a person with myopia cannot see things from afar clearly, Hyperopia (farsightedness): difficulty in seeing close objects clearly; Astigmatism: distorted vision resulting from an irregularly curved cornea, the clear covering of the eyeball and Presbyopia linked to ageing and leads to difficulty in reading or seeing at arm's length.
