NDC Activist Roots For Nduom

National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist, Osei Yaw Nketia, popularly known as Doctor Asemfofro, has declared his support for the 2012 presidential candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP,) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom. Doctor Asemfofro, who was full of praise for Dr. Nduom, described him as the best Ghana could have had among all the presidential candidates for the 2012 elections. I dont know what is wrong with we Ghanaians. My brother (referring to this reporter) why do we always vote for people who cannot deliver on their promises, he stressed. just look at Dr. Nduom the number of jobs he has created in this country, yet people dont see the need to give him the power to rule this county, he added. The NDC serial caller chieftain made these observations yesterday when he came to the offices of Today in Accra. His sudden change of mind, he told Today, was the fact that the 2012 flag-bearer of the PPP was more credible than all those who were aspiring to rule this country. That, he explained, was due to the PPPs position on the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) which the party campaigned on in 2012. Though the firebrand NDC activist admitted other political parties including the New Patriotic Party (NPP) also campaigned on free education, he noted that none of them could have implemented it. He explained that the reason why President Mahama has decided to implement the programme in 2015 and not now was because Mr. Mahama wants to perpetuate his stay as President of Ghana hence his decision to do the programme close to elections time. There is no way NDC can win the 2016 elections if it fails to implement the policy now and wait for 2015, the visibly worried NDC serial caller stressed. Many of the economic woes bedeviling the country, he claimed, were due to the falling standard of the countrys education. He attributed that to inability of parents to pay for their wards school fees and provide them learning materials. I repeat if my party NDC wants to be retained it should start the free education in October this year and not next year, he advised. The NDC man who alleged he has been neglected after supporting the party to win power appealed to President Mahama to listen to the foot soldiers of the party to help build the countrys ailing economy. Funding the free education, he noted, should not be a problem for the government as he alleged further that monies were being wasted by government appointees. It would be recalled that President Mahama during his State of Nation address on the floor of Parliament promised Ghanaians that his administration will start the implementation of the free education in 2015.
