Liverpool 1-1 Everton

Everton's Phil Jagielka produced a spectacular injury-time equaliser to earn Everton a draw in a pulsating derby at Anfield that turned out to be a tale of two captains. Liverpool's leader Steven Gerrard had fired his side ahead after 65 minutes with a stunning free-kick after Mario Balotelli had been fouled on the edge of the area. It seemed to be enough to end Liverpool's poor run but Everton, who were lucky to still have 11 men on the pitch due to a series of early indiscretions by Gareth Barry, stunned them right at the end when Jagielka hammered a 25-yard drive into the top right-hand corner after Liverpool had cleared the ball.
