An accident on Friday morning has claimed the lives of 12 people and injured about 58 at Ankaase, near Osino in the Eastern region. Two VIP buses all carrying 35 people; one from Sunyani heading to Accra and the other from Accra heading to Kumasi collided head-on after the the former tried to overtake a stationary vehicle on the road. According to Superintendent Darko who spoke to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "kokrokoo" programme, said had the Accra-bound VIP bus exercised a little bit of patience, the accident could have been avoided. He added that the driver and mate on the Kumasi-bound bus are dead but the drivers on the second bus are seriously injured. An eyewitness said the accident happened around 1:23am. Meanwhile the the dead and the injured have all been taken to the Kyebi, Nkawkaw, and Osino hospitals.
