Claims Against E.T Mensah Wild And False NDC Organiser

The Greater Accra Regional office of the Naional Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed claims that the Member of Parliament for the Prampram constituency, E.T Mensah, had connived with some Regional Executives to disqualify some candidates from contesting the partys constituency elections on Monday. The constituency elections were thrown into chaos when an angry crowd stormed the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in the Prampram Constituency, where they were being held calling for the elections to be called off. 200 delegates of the party in the area had earlier protested against the election over what they described as unfair disqualification of four candidates alleging that officials of the party, including E.T Mensah had a hand in the decision. However, the Organiser of the Greater Accra regional office of the party, Anthony Nupkenu, speaking on Eyewitness News, said that the claims by the disqualified aspirants were untrue and were just attempts by persons in the party to tarnish the images of the Member of Parliament and the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC Kobina Ade Coker. That is a wild allegation, untenable, it has no leg and Im saying it emphatically that ET Mensah never directed any decision that was taken by the regional executive committee. Neither he nor Ade Coker took any decision to disqualify anybody. It was a regional constituency decision and it is the application of the constitution of the party. He insisted that the partys constitution had been adhered to in vetting the candidates for the elections and the disqualification of the the four candidates was justified. We went through the process of the election and people did not meet the criteria and were not eligible to contest for the positions they applied for and so the decision was made to disqualify them. If somebody is hiding behind claiming he is a senior member and trying to perpetrate these crimes he should bring his face to the fore so that we meet him boot for boot. He confirmed that the results from the elections would stand despite the complaints from the disqualified candidates and that all the winners would be duly acknowledged. We sanctioned it. The decision of the electoral commission after the votes that were cast is being upheld by the party in the region, he said. He also rejected claims that senior officials had acted in bad faith saying I am yet to come to terms with those senior members appealing to people [to withdraw the injunction plea] that is being acclaimed all over. We cannot allow people to take the law into their own hands do anything and people will be hiding behind them aiding them to create anarchy and make statements that are not factual.
