A National Chairman Hopeful of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, has said the party�s chairmanship race was not a-do-or-die battle but a commitment to move the party forward. He said he did not expect the campaign to be acrimonious because the NDC was a disciplined party and expressed the hope that the other candidates in the chairmanship race would make the interest of the party paramount. Alhaji Yahaya, who is the vice-chairman, made the appeal during an interaction with journalists on Wednesday to round off his campaign tour of the Central Region ahead of the party�s national congress. Alhaji Yahaya, who was the first General Secretary of the party, is competing against incumbent Dr. Kwabena Adjei, Mr. Kofi Portuphy, National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and Mr. Dan Abodakpi, a former High Commissioner to Malaysia. He said there was the need to strengthen the internal structures of the party, adding that he was sacrificing himself as a resource to be used to move the party forward and pledged to encourage team work among other executives who would be given the mandate. Alhaji Yahaya , who is also the chairman of the party�s Reconciliation and Constitutional Review Committee, pledged to work with the constitution of the party and exercise open, accountable and transparent leadership as well as hard work. He said his dedication and commitment would be to win the 2016 elections and subsequently assist an NDC government in power to honour all its campaign promises to Ghanaians. Alhaji Yahaya said he was confident his message to the party members during his tour had received a positive response and was assured of victory in the elections. He called on party executives at all levels not to sideline executives who might not retain their positions but tap from their experience.
