Nana Storms Kumasi

NEW PATRIOTIC Partys (NPPs) two-time presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is expected to court a large army of party supporters and sympathizers on Sunday at Abbys Park at Ashanti Newtown, a suburb of Kumasi, to wind up his campaign activities in the Ashanti Region less than eight days before the partys presidential primary. Nana Addo, presidential hopeful, will join over 10,000 delegates at the historical ground to pray for Gods intervention and give hope to the people as the October 18 presidential primary is about the future of Ghana, NPP Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako said. He told DAILY GUIDE the event is dubbed: I Have Heard Your Cry, as captured in Exodus 3:7 in the Holy Bible, and that Nana Addo would use the occasion to express his profound gratitude to his campaign team and ask the delegates to continue to support him. Nana Akufo-Addo and his closest contender, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, had moved in and out of the region, where they hotly fought in 2007 for the flagbearership race. On the campaign trail, the candidates termed the race for the NPP flagbearer as a choice between Ghanas future and power for the party. On Thursday, Mr. Kyerematen was reported to have sold his key promise to pay party activists monthly salaries as part of a strategy to properly motivate them, if elected, while speaking to some potential delegates in Ho, the Volta Regional capital. According to him, the NPP lost the last two presidential elections partly because party foot soldiers were often neglected in decision making and resource allocation, for which reason they should vote for him to bring about a change. We know what change looks like, and what Mr. Kyerematen is offering is not the issue, a supporter of Nana Addo told DAILY GUIDE in a friendly conversation. Nana Akufo-Addo has indicated that his focus is to win political power to help free Ghanaians from poverty, pledging good education for all toward the total transformation of the economy. We are not asking for power to enrich ourselves we want power to help Ghana, the presidential hopeful said during a campaign tour at Kajeji in the Sene East Constituency of the Brong-Ahafo Region. Nana Addo wants Ghanaians to have confidence in the NPP and offer the party the opportunity to serve once again for total transformation.
