Ursula Owusu Warns NPP Delegates Ahead of Elections

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency, Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekufful has warned the delegates ahead of Saturday's Congress. According to the legislator, the delegates will have themselves to be blamed if they decide to publicly show the candidate they are voting for as their votes will be considered spoilt ballots. Speaking on Oman Fm's Morning Show, Hon. Ursula Ekufful reminded that the voting should be done in secrecy as per the countrys electoral rules, thus any delegate who goes contrary to the mandated formula of voting in secrecy will have their ballot papers thrown out. Right from there, we will not allow you to put your ballot paper into the ballot box and it will be counted as a spoilt ballot; it is suppose to be secret voting and that is also the position of our electoral rules. If we wanted it to be done by showing of hands, then we would have asked the agents of the three Presidential aspirants to form queues, so that the delegates can follow their preferential candidates in the queue...our law wants to avoid the situation where someones voting can influence others unduly, she admonished. Our opponents are in wait to pass negative comment about our Congress; lets deny them that opportunity to criticize us negatively; lets shame them in this Congress and do it in such a way that people will praise us as the most democratic party in the country, she urged. She however pleaded with the delegates to adhere to the measures put in place by the Electoral Commission for the Congress to be successful, asking them to find out their various polling centers to vote on time. Meanwhile, 141,000 delegates are due to vote across the country on Saturday 18, October. Every Constituency has one polling center and after the results have been worked on at the Strong room of EC, it will be announced at NPPs Head Office by the Electoral Commission in the evening.
