The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed media reports that it is cash strapped. The Second Vice Chairman of the party, Sammy Crabbe, on Eyewitness News said reports over the financial situation of the party were unfortunate and inappropriate. Earlier reports suggested that the party might be forced to postpone its much anticipated October 18 national delegates� congress due to lack of funds. On Thursday, the party�s steering committee held an emergency meeting to find a possible way out. A flagbearer aspirant, Nana Akufo-Addo is said to have donated GHC 600,000 to the party to assist with the organization of the congress. But Crabbe insists the party is financially sound saying, �I don�t believe the party is struggling with funds . I was in the meeting yesterday and all things were covered. An organization as big as ours will definitely have to find means of resolving budgetary issues. I think its very unfortunate that people will have such an impression.� He however accused �anti NPP� individuals of propagating such �unsubstantiated� claims in the media. According to him, he is not privy to the information that Nana Addo donated GHC 600,000 to finance the party�s congress. He said: �I have not been to any meeting where it�s been reported that he [Nana Addo] has offered money for the party.� The NPP�s Second Vice Chairman further disclosed that the party has finally submitted its voters register to the Electoral Commission (EC) ahead of the congress. The EC had earlier served notice that it may have challenges conducting the party�s elections because it was yet to receive the register from the NPP. Crabbe has assured party members that all is set for the national congress to take place. NPP delegates� across the country will today head to the polls to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the 2016 general elections. Candidates contesting for the position are Nana Akufo-Addo, Alan Kyerematen and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
