Seven Goat Thieves Arrested

The Sakumono Police have arrested seven persons including an ex-convict for allegedly stealing a number of goats at Klagon, near Tema. The suspects are Charles Cobblah, 46, the ex- convict; Ayiku Odoi, 20; Dennis Boateng, 21; Emmanuel Tetteh, 26; Duke Nortey, 27; Francis Kisi, 31, and Ebenezer Mpata, 27. Two of the suspects, Odoi and Boateng were said to have been arrested earlier after which they assisted the police to arrest their five other accomplices. According to the police, Odoi and Boateng stole the goats and sold them between GH�50 and GH�70 to Cobblah while the four other suspects also sold them between GH�120 and GH�130 to their clients. The Tip- off Briefing the journalists in Accra, the Sakumono District Commander, Superintendent Alex Kodjo Wowlo, said around 4:00am on October 19, 2014, the police received information that the suspects had come around to steal goats at Klagon. He said a police patrol team was immediately sent to Klagon where Odoi and Boateng were seen putting nine goats from a pen to into a vehicle. The police arrested the two suspects after a hot chase with the help of residents in the area. He said after their arrest, Odoi and Boateng allegedly confessed to the offence and informed the police about five other accomplices who were also in the neighbourhood. Suspects lures accomplices Mr Wowlo said the police and the suspects lured the five other suspects to meet them at Community 20 where they were arrested.
