Ive Been So Disappointed In Bawumias Comments About The Economy On Several Occasions - Pratt

I was a little surprised because I thought the last two elections were also fought on the economy. So if the two elections had been fought on the economy and that team has failed to win, the question you ask is, what is so new about the 2016 election and about Dr. Bawumia such that this time they would win? queries Kwesi Pratt Jnr. The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper has pooh-poohed at the attempt to tout Dr Mahamadu Bawumia as a brilliant Economist saying he has always been disappointed in the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana's analysis and opinion over matters of the economy. In all honesty, sometimes, Ive been so disappointed in his comments about the economy on several occasions What kind of an accomplished economist will put the cost of cement in the bucket for calculating inflation in Ghana at the time that Dr. Bawumia did? he quizzed. He was speaking to Sena Numbo on Radio Golds Alhaji and Alhaji Saturday on the selection of Dr Bawumia as running Mate by Nana Akufo Addo on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for the 2016 General Elections. The seasoned journalist described the retention of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the wisest thing the NPP has ever done saying he strongly believes "it saved the party another round of mindless and useless lobbying". Newly-elected flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Thursday, October 23, announced his choice of a running-mate by retaining Dr. Bawumia. Hours after the declaration, the partys National Council gave the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana an overwhelming endorsement to partner Nana Akufo-Addo for the third time. But Kwesi Pratt Jnr opines that even though Dr. Bawumias selection was laudable, there is nothing new about it and the opposition party is likely to suffer a repeat of what transpired in the last polls regardless of his (Bawumias) much-hyped economic credentials.
