Thirteen year-old junior high school (JHS) student of the Class-Peter Memorial School at Bubiashie in Accra, Master Andrew Adansi-Bonnah, has been nominated with two other teenagers for the International Children�s Peace Prize, 2014. The two others, Alexey, 17 and Neha, 18 are from Russia and the United States. All the nominees have shown special dedication to children�s rights. The International Children�s Peace Prize is an initiative of the children�s rights organisation. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony in The Hague, The Netherlands, on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Master Adansi-Bonnah who spoke to the Junior Graphic about his project, said he did not want a food crisis to hit Ghana so he had begun an advocacy campaign to make Ghanaians aware of the food situation so as to intensify agricultural activities. �I saw Ghana as a nation slowly shifting its attention from food and meat production; processing as well as storage. �My vision is to help build a country where everyone eats healthily, has affordable food at all times and no one goes hungry.� According to Master Adansi-Bonnah, he had realised the slow and passive attitude of Ghanaians towards agriculture, and that if care was not taken it could lead to food crisis. He said between August 2011 and August 2012, he put so much effort in his project through publications, seeking support and also creating awareness of the situation among members of the public. At the ceremony in The Hague, Nobel Peace Prize winner and KidsRights patron, Desmond Tutu, will present the International Children�s Peace Prize to the winner. The 10th anniversary of the prize will be celebrated by the publication of the book �Changemakers�, containing inspiring interviews and unique photographic material of the 10 Children�s Peace Prize winners. It will be available as a limited edition directly after the presentation of the Children�s Peace Prize. The International Children�s Peace Prize is awarded annually to a child who has shown special dedication to children�s rights. Through this award, the International Children�s Peace Prize, KidsRights for 10 years now, has put a brave child in the spotlight. An independent expert committee selects the winner from nominees all over the world.
