AG Criticised For Inability To Defend State Institutions In Court

The Attorney General's Department has often been criticised for its inability to put up a defence when state institutions are sued in court. According to a Private Counsel, Kweku Paintsil, the AG's Department can do more inspite of challenges it faces in order to save the state purse from leaking. He said legal practitioners must be proactive in dealing with cases that have weak defence by negotiating with parties involved. Mr. Paintsil believes, that way, the rampant default judgements will be reduced and the state will save a lot of money. Mr. Paintsil made the comments when he appeared before the Judgement Debt Commission to give evidence in respect of a case against the Attorney General.
