An Accra Circuit Court has remanded the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Alhaji Alhassan Mohammed Imoro in Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) custody till November 17, 2014. During Monday�s proceedings, the State Prosecutor asked the Court to give the BNI one month to complete their investigations, but the judge gave them two weeks. According to Justice Francis Obiri, the prosecutors cannot continue to delay the case with the excuse of investigating the matter. This is the third time the Court presided over by Francis Obiri has remanded Alhaji Imoro since his arrest over financial misappropriation at the NSS. Alhaji Imoro was remanded by the Accra Circuit Court when he made his second appearance before the Court last Monday. The Court ordered the BNI to allow Imoro�s relatives and lawyers, to have access to him between 0800 hours and 1600 hours when he was remanded for the second time. It also ordered that Imoro should be given special diet on request and also, be sent to the Police Hospital for medical attention. Imoro who was charged with stealing GH 86.9 million cedis belonging to the government has pleaded not guilty. Presidential Staffer, Dr. Michael Whyte Kpessa, was subsequently reassigned to head the National Service Scheme (NSS) temporarily after Imoro was asked to step aside.
