Mr Hassan Ayariga, the 2012 presidential candidate of People�s National Convention (PNC), has called for an early national delegates congress of the party to elect new leaders who will prepare the party for the 2016 elections. With two years to national elections, he said, the current crop of PNC leadership had proved incapable of steering the affairs of the party, much more to win the 2016 general election. In a telephone interview, Mr Ayariga, who is currently in the Upper East Region as part of his regional visits to PNC branches, told the Daily Graphic that he was very disappointed in the current crop of leaders who are virtually sleeping on the job, and �no wonder the party is so dormant to the disbelief of party faithful and the lovers of democracy.� ��My brother, nothing is working. Nothing is being done at the leadership level, leaving the rank and file without any political direction and focus to win the 2016 elections,�� Mr Ayariga opined. �As at now, the PNC is so quiet as if Hassan Ayariga is the leader. I am not. A party willing to win political power must not be this dormant,� he said. He stressed the urgent need for an early congress to elect capable crop of leaders who would inject a new breath of life and activities to energise the party�s forward march to electoral victory. Change campaigns Already, Mr Ayariga has toured the Upper East, Greater Accra, Volta, and Ashanti regions, meeting constituents and explaining to them the need to reactivate the party which is dormant. He said next week, the ��change campaign tour�� would take him to Brong Ahafo and Upper West regions until the needed change would take place within the party. So far, Mr Ayariga said his tour had revealed to him that most of the party structures were collapsing as a result of its dormant nature. He said the PNC needed to put party structures in place so that the party could enter the 2016 election in the hope of winning the presidency. Mr Ayariga, therefore, appealed to the leadership of the party, including constituency executive members, to exert pressure and call for an early congress to save the PNC from eminent collapse. �There is the need for drastic change of leadership of our party,� Mr Ayariga expressed in a very disturbing mood. According to Mr Ayariga, the present leadership had not demonstrated enough capabilities to lead the party to victory in 2016 and therefore urged its members, supporters and sympathisers to stand up for a positive change. Mr Ayariga said he also used the tour to thank the party executive for canvassing votes for the PNC during the last elections, as well as urged them to look for new leadership. Mr Ayariga explained that the party was in need of leadership that would bring more votes to the party in the 2016 elections, since the present leadership�s work �leaves much to be desired�.
