My Victory Is NDCs 2016 Victory; Ade Coker Asserts

Retained Greater Accra Regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC,) Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, has asserted that his Saturdays victory was an indication of good things to happen for the NDC, saying my victory today [last Saturday, November 15] is NDCs victory in 2016. In an exclusive interview with Today via telephone in Accra, he thanked all those who supported him to make his victory possible. I thank all those who supported me through thick and thin to make this overwhelming victory possible, he said. Though he admitted the contest was not easy, he knew he would be retained to continue the good works for the NDC in the region. He therefore, assured the NDC hierarchy, especially the Greater Accra region that he would work fervently to ensure that President Mahama is also retained. According to Ade Coker, his victory would fall short if in 2016 President Mahama is not retained. He further pledged to increase the current number of NDC parliamentary seats in the Greater Accra region. All these, he noted, would need everybody on board most importantly those who contested him to make President Mahama and NDCs victory in 2016 possible. I Ade cannot do everything and for that matter I need everybody, especially Stephen Kwetey, Manly Spain and Daniel Amartey, he stressed. Now that the elections are over he intimated it would be politically prudent for his contestants to put everything behind and rally behind the NDC in the region to win more parliamentary seats in 2016. Ade Coker polled 157 votes to beat his closest contender, Daniel Amartey Mensah, who polled 103 votes. The results came as a surprise to many election watchers who had tipped Stephen Akwetey or Daniel Amartey Mensah to beat the incumbent but the delegates remained faithful to Ade Coker. Steven Akwetey polled 22 votes with Ekow Manley polling 32. The secretary position went to Victor Quarshie with Anthony Nukpenu picking the National Organiser position.
