Daboya MP Needs To Be Schooled On Women's Rights Ursula

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West constituency, Ursula Owusu Ekuful is proposing women's rights education for Daboya/Makanrigu MP, Nelson Abudu Banni. According to her, if the legislator is schooled on the right and privileges of women, he will not advocate stoning as a form of punishment for adulterous women. Hon. Banni has come under a barrage of attack after his infamous Sharia Law proposition for unfaithful wives. Contribution to a debate on the 2013 Intestate Succession Bill on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Abudu Baani suggested that that married women caught having extra-marital affair should be stoned to death. Daboya/Makanrigu MP has since apologized for the comment but people seem not to be satisfied. Whiles civil society organizations are calling for his resignation, the women caucus of Parliament are also demanding a retraction of the comment. But the Ablekuma West MP believes the way forward is to school Hon Baani on gender related issues. She indicated that the comment is an affront to women and an indictment on Parliament. Ursula Owusu urged the Daboya MP not to champion the cause of only the men in his constituency.
