On behalf of the entire membership of the New Patriotic Party, I wish to congratulate our farmers and fishermen on this day as we acknowledge their hard work and commitment over the years. Agriculture remains the fuel that powers all our activity in Ghana, and the NPP is indeed proud the good works of our farmers and fishermen, and we congratulate every one of you on this day. It remains an undeniable fact that more than 50% of our population are engaged in agriculture. If, as a country, we are to make any meaningful change in the lives of the people therefore, our efforts must be directed at this sector. The majority of people can only feel a change in their lives when we develop agriculture. The transformation and modernisation of our agriculture to enhance productivity and guarantee food security are the vital issues of our time. I am confident that with the necessary support and incentives, the Ghanaian farmer will be up to the task.
