Police Intensifies Operation On Criminals

The Tema Regional Police Command has sent a word of caution to taxi drivers and spiritual leaders who assist armed robbers in their operations to desist from doing so or face the full rigours of the law. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCoP), Beatrice Zapkaa Vib- Sanziri, the regional Police Commander incharge of Tema speaking with DAILY GUIDE, further advised hoteliers to be wary of customers with suspicious characters by ensuring that their customers engage in genuine businesses. She disclosed that the police had also declared war on armed robbery, adding, We are going to make the ground very unbearable for criminals during and after the Christmas festivity. DCoP Zapkaa Vib- Sanziri again charged foreigners in Ghana to transact their businesses without fear and seek police protection at all times. According to her, police intelligence reports showed that some foreign nationals engage in criminal activities because they think Ghana is a safe haven where they could operate their activities. She, however, assured the public that the security agencies had stepped up operations in protecting lives and property by embarking on surprise swoops, snap checks, among other operation tactics, to combat crime in the Tema metropolis in order to make Christmas celebration crime-free and enjoyable. DCoP Vib-Sanziri explained that the dream could only be realised through public support and offering of vital information to the police on activities of persons with suspicious characters. She hinted that anyone found conniving with persons engaged in criminal activities would face the full rigours of the law; therefore, you should report any suspects including foreigners with suspicious movement to the police.
