KMA Building Is Not For Sale - Kojo Bonsu

Kojo Bonsu, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive has denied media reports that the current Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in Adum is up for sale. According to him, plans are far advanced to construct an ultramodern building due to the fact that the current KMA building does not befit the Assembly. Also, the various departments of the Assembly are housed in various locations within the metropolis but a new building will bring all the departments under one roof. "..it is not true that we are going sell our building but we have planned to build another one which will comprise of many facilities, including a huge auditorium. After many months of deliberations, the Assembly has decided to give the current KMA building out on short leases because there should be a plan for this current building after we construct a new one. "..But it is not true that we are planning of selling the building out as it is being circulated, Kojo Bonsu said on Okay FM. This comes after Hon Abraham Boadi, Assemblyman for Nhyiaeso, said Kojo Bonsu, the Kumasi mayor, announced the sale during a KMA executive meeting. On his word, assemblymen like himself strongly kicked against the sale of the edifice during the meeting. Abraham Boadi, said the matter would be brought before the KMA General Assembly Committee soon and he would do all in his power to resist any attempt to sell the building. Nonetheless, the KMA boss has assured all that the building would be leased out and not sold as being speculated.
