Dont Feign Illness To Escape Duty;Police Cautioned

The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command has served notice that personnel who feign illness in order to escape being deployed during the Christmas festivities will be sanctioned. The command said it would thoroughly scrutinise such claims and those found to have faked their sickness would be dealt with. Parade The Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Patrick Adusei Sarpong, gave the warning when he inspected a parade of special police personnel numbering about 140, who will be deployed during the Yuletide. The parade was mounted by personnel of the Rapid Deployment Force (RDF), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), municipal and regional headquarters. ACP Sarpong said Christmas and the New Year were periods marked with activities that needed adequate police protection. As usual, Christmas is a period when many activities, including criminal activities, increase so we are going to deal with anyone who would try to fake sickness to avoid being detailed, he warned. Extortion ACP Sarpong also cautioned officers who would be detailed on the highways to refrain from extorting money from drivers. We are sending you to the highways to inspect the vehicles, including checking whether they are hiding drugs, guns and other objects that can be used for criminal activities. If you go there to take money from the drivers instead of doing what you have been sent to do, you are going to be dealt with, ACP Sarpong stated. He said the police command was working tirelessly to ensure an accident-free Christmas celebration in the region. At the end of the inspection, personnel from the regional police command were adjudged the best in terms of fitness and other ethical values.
