ACCRA: Devil Influenced Driver Speeds Off With Policeman Hanging On His Car Bonnet

Similar to a scene from an action movie, a police officer put his body on the line and refused to allow a crazy driver go scot free when he made an illegal u-turn at the Kawukudi intersection near the Gold House traffic light on the Airport road to Nima/Kanda. The officers attempt to right the wrong of the driver, who drove a Toyota Corolla, landed him in a very serious trouble which could have ended his life. The police officer was first knocked down by the said driver, but managed to quickly get up and cling onto the bonnet of the car tightly. The recalcitrant driver upon sensing danger sped off with the police officer still hanging on the bonnet of his car. Peace FM news, spoke to an official of the Police Visibility Department and he confirmed the story during the station's Midday bulletin. Chief Inspector Adu Amankwah, stated that had it not been for the timely arrival of a team of military men at the scene and other road users, the driver would have obviously killed the police officer. The driver never bothered with smashing into other vehicles even though the police officer was lying on his car bonnet. It was apparent his only aim was to ensure the police man fell off so that he could escape, he recounted. The suspect is currently in the grips of the police and is being processed for court. Chief Inspector Adu Amankwah further revealed that when they the driver was asked why he was so bent on getting away, "he told us it was the work of the devil.
