Day two of the Local Government ministers tour in the Ashanti Region continued yesterday and as part of this, he visited a landfill site at Kuwait near Sokoban to ensure his campaign on improving sanitation sits down well with Ghanaians. Hon. Julius Debrah is currently in the region to inspect ongoing projects and have first hand information how the various assemblies are faring. The minister took time out to visit the Atwima Nwabiagya district and in a meeting with the assembly, he was excited about the measures they have put in place to use internally generated funds to enhance developments in the area. He praised them for doing such a thing and called on other districts to emulate this act and not to always wait for their District Common Fund to be paid before they embarked on developmental projects. He promised members of the Atwima Nwabiagya assembly of President Mahamas commitment toward them with a befitting ex-gratia after their term of office have come to an end. At the Nkawie, which is the district capital of Atwima Nwabiagya, Hon. Julius Debrah visited a 500 bed military hospital. The Obuasi Municipal Assembly was the ministers next stop. He was there in the company of the Regional Minister and MCE for Obuasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi to inspect an ultra modern bus terminal which is being constructed at the Obuasi. The facility after completion will have 81 retail stalls and is an initiative of the MCE. However, it is being revived with the support of the local government ministry after it had been abandoned in 2009. The tour then reached a place called Baakoyeden within the Obuasi Municipality. Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi aided Hon. Julius Debrah to inspect a 660,000 artisanal enclave which when completed will employ over 20,000 local artisans and mechanics at a go.
