MCE Urges Health Workers To Show Commitment

Nii Ephraim, the Municipal Chief Executive for Effutu, has urged workers of state-owned hospitals, clinics and maternity homes to show high sense of commitment towards the challenges of health insurance clients. He said this would be the effective and most welcoming role expected of all state-engaged health employees towards the attainment of the aims and objectives of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Nii Ephraim said this in a Christmas message to workers in the municipality. He warned health workers who were collecting illegal monies from health insurance clients before providing them with services to put a stop to the dubious and unprofessional practices. The MCE described such workers as enemies of the health insurance policy and must be dealt with ruthlessly without fear or favour when caught in order to sustain the gains the National Health Insurance Authority had chalked so far. Nii Ephraim said using ones technical or professional know-how to dupe fellow citizens or undermine social and economic growth of the nation would not augur well for national development. He said his administration had set up a machinery to monitor the activities of both state and privately owned hospitals, clinics and maternity homes in the municipality to check such unwarranted act designed by certain greedy elements to frustrate NHIS cardholders.
