In a year of political tensions with Russia and North Korea, conflict in the Middle East, and CIA torture claims - the world's most powerful man was kept fairly busy in 2014.
But that didn't stop Barack Obama enjoying the occasional intimate moment with family members, friends, adversaries and even animals - many of which were captured on camera and released in a White House photo abum.
The diverse collection includes Michelle wrestling with the family dogs, the president and his daughters inspecting the Thanksgiving 'pardoned turkey' and Mr Obama walking a jubilant baby around the Oval Office.
