When asked of my views and description of 2014, I simply retorted: �oh 2014? It was a year of sex tapes, shocking scandals/deaths, protracted celebrity arrests/remands, mysterious disappearance ( Castro ) and, of course, I better not rule out the SHATTA phenomenon�. No doubt, the aggressive dancehall artiste's name evokes a lot to interesting thoughts. �Shatta Wale Abr3: Allegedly beats a boutique owner he owes GH�150, Shatta Wale releases videos to insult Charter House, Shatta sued GH�10 Million ($3M) by Charter House'' Stated above were but a few of the showbiz BIG headlines in 2014. Did I capture the Shatta Wale-Charter House diss video? eerrmmm! Oh YES, I did. SHATTA WALE VS CHARTER HOUSE. It all started when we woke up one fine morning in September 2014 only to be greeted with series of well planned self-recordings( ''diss'' videos). Apparently borne out of frustration, the strongly worded but amusing content of the four-part ''diss'' videos narrate how the boss of Charter House MR. IYIOLA AYOADE wished his career a �premature downfall�. OMG! Those social-media-driven videos were extremely patronized. If I am not exaggerating, even a 6-year-old or a retired civil servant might know about the �Odewale�, �dade dade� , �katey katey� , �apoto yewa dade� hooks in those videos. I better be careful and stop here. (Just remembered the case is pending judgement in court�I might be charged for contempt you know?) There is no gainsaying the fact that that singular act marked the beginning of what I term THE ERA OF SELF RECORDED VIDEOS (SELF-VID for short). Yea or Nay? Most celebrities are making good use of self-vids and I dare say SELF-VID has come to stay. Enough of SELF,,,now take a SELF-VID. Whether you like it or yes, Ghanaian celebrities have jumped onto the SELF-VID bandwagon and are attracting attention to themselves with the new phenomenon. Imagine what somebody whispered into my ear: �Oh forget them, if Sandra Ankobia dey buy kenkey and '' shitt) " saf, she dey video�. That was just by-the-bye. On a serious note, there seem to be a worrying and a rather regrettable trend with the self-vid revolution. Self-vid now serves as an ideal tool to hit back, 'diss' and 'free your minds' to perceived haters. AFIA SCHWARZENEGGER VS BUKOM BANKU-POWERS (2015). Yes! �Self-vid� has become the order of the day and obviously, the famed are loving it to the core. Hearing the two popular boxers/comic characters reduce the loud female presenter to shameless nonentity still leaves me wondering what offence she might have committed to warrant such verbal punches. After watching the banku/powers �diss� video, one thing was clear to me: the two ''local champions'' seemed to have made an emphatic statement that �Afia, we are very prepared for you so don't try it. YOU HAVE MEET YOUR MEETER,� as AYITTEY POWERS put it. Has Schwarzenegger been flawed? Certainly not,,,i strongly believe she doesn't want to mind them.(lol) Though yet to hear from HER ROYAL MAJESTY, Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa (Afia Schwarzenegger), I would advise that she rather remains silent and spare herself a serious ridicule as the two boxers appear steeped in this kind of �fight�. the release of revealing videos and more recently defamatory audios seem not ending now. After hearing the defamatory audio released by the ex-wife of Ghanaian business tycoon Kenpong, Amanda comparing the 'SMALL-SIZED PENIS� of her baby papa (Kenpong) to his current husband's apparent HUGE and ''SWEET'' DICK was most regrettable. Judging from what I see from where I sit, more revealing episodes are yet to unfold. AFIA SCHWARZENEGGER VS BISHOP OBINIM. Once upon a time, a video of Bishop Daniel Obinim insulting popular television presenter Afia Schwarzenegger was released and I am sure, he regretted ever stooping so low. Judging by views from the court of public opinion, the question as to who won the battle between the two is a foregone conclusion. As portions of the audio released by Kenpong's ex-wife, Amanda put it , �Afia Schwarzenegger flawed the self-acclaimed man of God, Bishop Obinim hands down.' Is someone hating on you? You can join the trend if you want. Well, the likes of Afia Schwarzenegger, Bishop Obinim, Amanda Afriyie Aquah (Kenpong's Ex-Wife) and now, Bukom Banku and his punching bag Ayittey Powers tell us that, all you need to do is to grab a video phone, activate the 'self-vid' camera, record yourself whiles dissing and as it were, upload on social media, dassalllll! But is that all our so-called celebrities have on offer? Hurling insults here and there? God help us! WHO IS NEXT TO RELEASE A SELF-VID?
