Tmahahe Ashanti Regional Deputy Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Anane, says President Mahama�s achievements over the past two years in office can only be likened to Ghana�s First President, the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Brushing aside two former Presidents under the NDC, Mr. Jerry John Rawlings and the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, the Deputy NDC Communications Officer stated categorically that the only Ghanaian leader who comes close to the current President, in terms of achievements and leadership style, is the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. In a submission that was initially thought to be a prank, the Deputy NDC Communication Officer said the vision of President John Dramani Mahama was similar to that of Dr. Nkrumah, Ghana�s first democratically elected President, stressing that both leaders share similar traits of futuristic and foresightedness in their visions for the country. According to him, the three immediate former Presidents, including two from his own party, the NDC, did not possess the vision that the current President, John Mahama, has for the country. Contributing to a discussion on Fox FM in Kumasi, Solomon Anane contended that when you juxtapose the kind of stiff opposition the current administration has encountered from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), in terms of its efforts to implement policies and the achievements so far, one cannot help but admire his courage and excellent performance, which is reminiscent of Dr. Nkrumah�s days. He said the kind of challenges Dr. Nkrumah encountered when he attempted to undertake certain projects, such as the Akosombo Dam, is similar to what the NPP is doing today against President Mahama. According to him, the NPP has virtually opposed every project initiated by this government to benefit Ghanaians and generations yet unborn, citing projects such as the acquisition of the new FPSO, the Atuabo Gas project, the construction of a free port at Takoradi, and the GNPC loan acquisition amongst others. �If you consider how the NPP tried desperately to block these projects, and you compare it to the era of Dr. Nkrumah, when the UP, which is today the NPP, similarly sabotaged and frustrated him from undertaking these projects,� he emphasised.
