Kill The "Parents Producing" Those Ghost Names!!! - Mornah

The General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has asked the Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD) as well as the Ministry of Finance to get rid of the ghost names on the payroll system from the grassroots.

According to him, it is good to arrest the individuals generating the ghost names however if the issue is not tacked from the roots, ‘we will get nowhere’.

The issue of ghost names on our payroll system has been in the media circles for some time now. IMANI Ghana has continuously asked the Ministry of Health as well as the CAGD to get rid of those ghost names since they are ‘sucking the life out of the country’.

IMANI Ghana said its research showed that the payroll system was still bloated with ‘ghost names’ despite various interventions.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Friday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’, Bernard Mornah said it is not enough to arrest just the individuals and that the bank officials should also be arrested.

“We arrest individuals but we have never arrested any bank or bank official…the money goes to the bank and so which bank manager or official takes care of the money… we should be able to trace the link. Let trace the link and deal with the issue from the roots otherwise, we will never be able to deal with the ghost names on our payroll. As you kill the ghost, you must kill the parents of the ghost for they are the source of production,” he urged
