Philip Longdon, member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has vehemently disagreed with the First Vice Chairman of the party who believes it would be a waste of time to give attention to the leaked tape on which Alhaji Bugti Nabu was heard doubting the loyalty of the Chairman and General Secretary of the NPP.

To him, many people in the past have made statements that have affected the fortunes of the party electorally and the party must therefore set the example by taking steps to stop this.

“…people like him (Bugri Naabu) have made similar reckless statements that have been injurious to our party and its prospects. We cannot continue to let that happen and our party must set the tone so that other parties do the same so that all our politicians will be more responsible.

“I completely disagree with Freddie Blay who thinks it would be a waste of time to investigate this issue because when you respond to issues like this, you are inadvertently encouraging people to misbehave” Mr. Longdon said.

His comment come on the back of a widely circulated audio tape on which a voice believed to be that of the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP was heard expressing reservations as far as the commitment of Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong to ensuring a win for the NPP in the 2016 general elections are concerned.

Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu also claimed the Chairman and General Secretary are ‘in bed’ with the leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress with the aim of making sure Nana Addo loses the 2016 presidential elections.

He further alleged that the two have already received Toyota Landcruiser V8 vehicles from President John Mahama’s brother, Ibrahim but Freddie Blay believes an inquest into such a statement would be a total waste of time.

However, Philip Longdon says it is “unacceptable for a First Vice Chairman of a party to talk like this because it will be an encouragement for people like Bugri Naabu to continue talking like this”.
