Andre Ayew: I Remember The Red Coat My Father Wore In 1992 AFCON Final

Black Stars’ striker, Andre Ayew, said that the 2015 AFCON final brings-back memories of when his father was suspended during the 1992 AFCON final against the same team that he will be facing tonight.

Ghana needed 120 minutes and 13 penalty shootouts to claim their last AFCON title in 1982 after a dramatic final against hosts Libya before ten years later they lost the final to Cote d’Ivoire in the same manner (penalty shootouts) and Andre Ayew witnessed it with his father who was suspended in that match.

“I remember the red coat my father wore (sitting on the sidelines in the 1992 final). My father is a Ghanaian and so I want to win this cup for all Ghanaians,” said the Marseille player.

“When you get to the final, you need to do everything to win the trophy.” he concluded.

The final will be held at the Bata Stadium starting 07:00 p.m GMT
