Maiden Smartphone Security Workshop In Ghana To Take Off

All is set for the maiden edition of the “Smartphone Security Workshop for Corporate Executives” being organised by the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and e-Crime Bureau to train corporate executives in smartphone security as part of the two organisations’ collective resolve to secure the information and communications technology needs of the business community in Ghana.

The workshop will be held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Thursday, February 19, 2015 and will educate and equip high level corporate executives including Board of Directors, CEOs, Managing Directors, Heads of Departments and others against various security threats being generated by criminals targeting private and confidential information on the smartphones of corporate executives. This is against the backdrop of recent reports suggesting that criminals, fraudsters, business competitors and corporate insiders are targeting business executives through their smartphones, using various technological tools.

The workshop will introduce delegates to potential internal and external smartphone security threats and take them through best practices to secure and protect their smartphone data/communications through hands-on demonstrations/tutorials with various smartphone devices. Participants will also be provided with cyber security software to secure confidential smartphone information/data.

The training will cover data leakages; smartphone phishing attacks; surveillance attacks; malware attacks, spyware attacks; corporate insider attacks; device tracking; best practices for usage and disposal of smartphones amongst others.

The workshop will attract board members, chief executive officers, managing directors and other top executives of public- and private-sector organisations across the country.
