Ghana�s participation in this year�s Africa Magic Viewers� Choice Awards (AMVCA) was close to nothing in all aspect of the ceremony. The event which is gradually becoming one of the biggest awards ceremonies that unites Africa�s creative force like nothing else as far as the big screen is concern, ended last weekend as an all Nigerian awards than the continental awards it was supposed to be. This year, the inaugural edition of the Africa Magic Viewers� Choice Awards united movie lovers and style lovers across Africa like never before on Saturday 7th March 2015. Hosted by Nigerian radio personality/BBA Host IK Osakioduwa and Zimbabwean TV star Vimbai Mutinhiri, the star studded awards ceremony took place in grand style at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. On the glamorous night, Nigeria dominated in every single part of the awards. With an added advantage as the host, Nigeria had more nominations prior to the awards night, Nigeria won most awards on the night, most of the awards presenters were Nigerians, Nigeria dominated even on the red carpet and obvious the event venue was filled with Nigerian stars and Nollywood producers and even the media present at the awards were predominantly Nigerian press. If indeed African Magic is hoping to bring movie makers, movie stars, stakeholders and the media across the African continent and to help the African movie industry then they failed this year. This is what Regional Director, M-Net (West), Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, said prior to this year�s AMVCA: �The AMVCAs were created to celebrate the contribution of African filmmakers, actors and technicians in the success of the continent�s film and television industry. The number and quality of entries for this year�s edition are a great improvement on the previous editions and the show promises to be exciting for our viewers across the continent�, but fortunately or unfortunately it looks likes this year it was a Nigerian night and not a night for Africa even though it was televised live for millions of viewers across Africa. In spite of the Nigerian invasion, a few Ghanaian movie stars managed to represent our beloved country. The few Ghanaians present were; Joselyn Dumas, Lydia Forson, Adjetey Annang, Zynell Zuh, Shirley Frimpong Manso and Ken Attoh.
