A former NPP MP for Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region has expressed his anger on the Chairman of the Electoral Commission [EC], Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan for his inability to conduct the recent district level election.

Kofi Ghana as affectionately called in politics described Dr. Afari Gyan as “arrogant and incompetent” EC boss ever in the history of the country.

The former Kumasi Mayor insisted that, Ghana is currently not enjoying any peace because of some decisions made by Dr. Afari Gyan over the years.

Discussing the recent suspended district level elections on Adom FM, Kofi Jumah fumed that the elections would have been successfully held if Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan had respected the laws of the country.

The EC is now requesting an additional Gh¢ 90 million to run the District Assembly elections after wasting a whooping amount of Gh¢ 327 million due to a Suprme court ruling.

However, Kofi Jumah wants the yet to be retired EC boss arrested and charged for causing financial loss to the state.

“Wasting this huge amount of money to run an election and at the end of the day it has been cancelled by the court shows how incompetent and arrogant the chairman is. In fact he must be sanctioned to serve as deterrent to his successor when he retires.

“…The peace we have in this country is not because of the EC but because of the responsibility of the two main political parties in the country, so to me he has done nothing but just to waste our money. The man should be charged for causing financial loss to the state,” he stated.
