Woyome's Verdict Has Changed My Perception About Prez Mahama And The NDC - NPP Communicator

A deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described the verdict in the just ended criminal suit brought against Accra-based businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, as a disgrace to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Presidency.

According him, he always maintained that President Mahama and the NDC should be given the benefit of doubt in spite of the revelations made by Martin Amidu at the beginning of this saga but they have proven him wrong.

“…I always wanted us to give them the benefit of doubt when it comes to corruption and looting of State coffers, but the verdict in Woyome’s case has changed my mind,” he said on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma .

This scathing attack on the President and the ruling NDC comes in the wake of an Accra High Court ruling which has acquitted and discharged Mr. Woyome of causing financial loss to the state even though he (Mr. Woyome) had earlier been ordered by the Supreme Court to return to the State chest, an amount of GHc 51 Million paid to him as judgment debt.

Mr. Woyome was accused of illegally receiving 51 million cedis from the State in 2010 for his role in the construction of stadia for the CAN 2008 tournament held in Ghana.

The court ruling saw Mr. Woyome discharged and acquitted of any financial fraud against the State but Pius Hadzide is of the conviction that this will be a blow on the conscience of the President and the NDC forever.

In his mind, this verdict has eroded the benefit of doubt he had in President Mahama and the NDC government, as far as Woyome's case is concerned.
