NPPs Affirmative Action Is Apuskeleke Policy - Allotey Jacobs

The ruling Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs believes the opposition NPP’s affirmative action is a wasteful venture which cannot work.

According to him, the NPP is desperate for power at all cost and the idea of implementing the affirmative action is to win votes from women, but added that it is a policy in futility since it started at the wrong time as they have barely two weeks to their Parliamentary Primaries.

Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Allotey Jacobs described NPP’s affirmative action as an “Apuskeleke” policy, explaining that their pro-feminine agenda started on a wrong foot as some leaders in the party want to shield some of the preferred female incumbent MPs position.

He again hinted that if the NPP wanted a genuine affirmative action, they should have included the agenda during their National Conference.

He therefore was pessimistic that the affirmative action will not hold again because it has already caused division in their party as many are against the decision; reiterating that the NPP is on the edge of losing the 2016 elections again due to the division as a result of the affirmative action.

“The harm has already been done and they can never reverse the damage caused by the affirmative action...this is an 'Apuskeleke' policy; if they wanted to do this right, they should have implemented it during their conference and congress. It is barely two months for them to go for their Parliamentary Primaries,” he stated.

He however alleged that Nana Akufo-Addo, the Flagbearer of the opposition NPP has already chosen his campaign team ahead of the plans of his party National Executives to decide the campaign team for NPP in the 2016 elections.
