Politicians In Cassock Must Show Their Party Colours - Tackie-Yarboi

The Presiding Bishop of the Victory Bible Church International (VBCI), Rt. Rev. Nii Apiakai Tackie-Yarboi has challenged his colleagues dabbling in politics to be bold and show their political colours.

According to him, the action and inaction of the ‘politicians in cassock’ is creating a bad name for the very few who speak their minds in a nationalistic way.

“Religious leaders who want to identify with a particular political party should do it boldly so they don’t mix up with those who are speaking things purely from a nationalistic approach” he bemoaned.

Bishop Tackie-Yarboi made the comment at the launch of the church’s 30th anniversary in Accra.

In his view, religious leaders must be statesmen not politicians thus must not do things to be branded as belonging to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He described as worrying how most pastors cannot speak their minds freely or offer constructive criticisms for fear of being branded to be a member of party A or B

Bishop Tackie-Yarboi charged religious leaders to be statesmen and refrain from acts that will denigrate the work of God.
