The much-awaited, first African American President, Barrack Obama flies in this evening, 10th July on board Air Force One, as prophesied by several Black American leaders, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr over 40 years ago.
Believed to be the most cherished and secured Aircraft which projects the American Presidency, Air-force One, the official carrier for the President of the United States will touch down at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for the third time, carrying President Obama and his family.
The first time Air-Force One landed in Ghana after her independence in 1995, when former President Bill Clinton visited the country. Ghana also played host to ex-President George W. Bush in February last year during which he outlined his commitment to help eradicate malaria in the country. Reports reaching Peacefmonline say former President Rawlings, ex-President Kufuor and the commander in-chief, President John Atta Mills will all be at the airport tonight to welcome President Obama.
In an earlier interview with Peacefmonline, the Minister of Information, Hon. Zita Okaikoi disclosed that the US President will not be involved in any major activity tonight but will rather rest when he arrives after 9pm. She revealed that he will meet with President Mills on Saturday morning after which he will meet Members of Parliament and other dignitaries at the International Conference Centre, visit La Polyclinic and then go on to visit Cape Coast castle with his family. A Ghanaian citizen, Mr Kwabena Nimo Preko, who graduated with President Obama in 1991 at Harvard University in the U.S. told Peace FM that Ghanaians should cherish the US President�s visit because it casts the limelight on Ghana as well as enhance the nation's international image.
