Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are rationing fuel for motorists in Accra following the sudden shortage of the commodity for close to a week now. The OMCs are therefore selling a maximum of GH�20 worth of petrol per vehicle. Daily Guide toured a number of fuel stations in Accra on Thursday and Friday and observed the anxiety of motorists who had queued up at filling stations for days only to be told that all they could buy was GH�20 worth of fuel per car. At the Sky Petroleum, a fuel filling station around East Legon, on Thursday morning, some commercial drivers devised smart ways of buying more than what they were told they could buy. While some came with friends and relatives who queued up with gallons on behalf of the vehicles, other drivers looked for gallons to queue after having bought the scanty GH�20 worth of fuel for their vehicles. Pump attendants explained that the reason for the rationing was to enable as many drivers as possible get a bit of the scarce commodity. Some angry drivers tooted their horns, making most of the fuel filling stations very noisy while others could just not help but stand nervously in the rain. Some of the pump operators kept shouting at drivers to wait their turns because they were under pressure and all wet and cold. Most of these drivers said they wished before the end of the day, the fuel rationing situation would be resolved so they would not wake up in the morning thinking about how to queue for long hours just to get fuel.
