2 Arrested Over Kpando Robbery

Two people have been arrested on suspicion that they are connected to an alleged robbery between Kpando and Kpando Torkor in the Volta Region.

The two were arrested yesterday after the Kpando police had been tipped-off regarding their whereabouts.

The suspects, a Nigerian and a Beninois, are believed to be part of a gang that robbed some travelers on the road between Kpando and Torkor at about 7:30 pm last Wednesday.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE yesterday afternoon, the Hohoe Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Joseph Gyawu – whose jurisdiction extends to Kpando – confirmed that there was a robbery incident in the area last Wednesday evening.

He indicated that the Kpando police were alerted and the Kpando District Commander, Supt. Godfrey Adjirakor, dispatched men to the scene, but unfortunately the criminals had absconded before the men arrived.

Mr. Gyawu said that a driver who was injured during the robbery attack has since been treated and discharged from the hospital. Another victim, a woman, and her baby were found in a nearby bush. She told the police that she was a victim to the robbery incident and had fled into the bush for safety.

Supt. Adjirakor said investigations had commenced and that he would make further details of the matter available at the appropriate time.
