Political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST),Dr. Richard Amoako-Baah  has described the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a ‘liability’.

According to him, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong is the major cause of the problems in the party and does not therefore deserve to still be the chief scribe of the party.

“He should step aside and allow someone who is capable of bringing peace to the party else Kwabena Agyepong will destroy the party. He is really a liability to them” he stresses.

NPP recently has been under immense pressure after an emergency steering committee meeting called by the First Vice chairman in the absence of the general secretary and the chairman.

The General Secretary has since condemned the calling of the meeting, describing it as part of moves to sabotage his reputation. Speaking on radio on Thursday, he vowed to "deal" with his detractors at the right time.  

But Dr. Amoako-Baah explained on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen Friday that unlike the general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who brings peace in his party anytime there is chaos, Mr Agyepong seems to court trouble and should either learn to be a peacemaker or or step aside.

"Who is Kwabena Agyepong to hold the NPP to ransom? He should learn from his colleague Johnson Asiedu Nketia of the NDC" he stressed.

“One person cannot be allowed to destroy the party.  He is the one who is supposed to stop the wrangling in the party but rather he has become the cause. That is not the temperament of a general secretary”.

Dr Amoako-Baah charged leaders of the NPP to sit up and bring peace into their party or risk its disintegration.
