If All Ghanaians Were Floating Voters

I have been asking myself the above question; if all Ghanaians were floating voters will our politicians speak the way they do. Will government communication be any better or worse? Please read what government officials are saying.

President Mahama

Kumasi
As for Akans even if you pave their road with gold they won’t appreciate it and Yentie Obiaa. I guess there are no Akan NDC members.

Botswana
I have a dead goat syndrome, I have witnessed more demonstrations and strikes and it can’t get worse. Wow, the president really said this.
I guess Yvonne Nelson and Co have not heard this.

Accra May Day Speech
Smart businesses are not laying off people; smart businesses are rather increasing their capacity because they believe in the ability of government at solving the power crisis.

Kindly allow me to do a little analysis, all businesses who are feeling the heat of "DumSor" are not smart. Any business that has either sacked or is thinking of laying off a worker because of the power crisis is not smart. What a smart expose by a smart president.

Alhaji Haruna Alidu, Facebook
Readers, this is a former presidential staffer. He worked at the office of the president. He labelled all women who are passed the age of 30 and not married prostitutes and irresponsible. He made this comments on the call of female celebrities for the on-going power crisis to end. He has since apologized for these comments. But Alhaji should have known better, that as an adult you should choose your words carefully.

His apology is however qualified, he apologized because of pressure from relatives and party. He does not see anything wrong with his comments. Alhaji, I hear you want to contest the Ablekuma Central seat. If Ghanaians were floating voters I bet you would have to shelve this ambition for another 4 years. How did I forget that Ghanaians are forgetful?

Fiifi Kwetey, Accra
Ghanaians are constantly behaving like “kindergarten kids that somebody must hold a cane before we do what is right. It is very insulting when an employee tells his master he is foolish to have employed him.
Yes we are kindergarten kids to have voted for a government that cannot handle the energy needs of its people for six years. They say 3 years that is a lie. The energy crisis is not the creation of this NDC but they have being in power for over 6 years.

Ras Mubarak, Facebook
“If governments after Nkrumah had thought about the long term, as JM [John Mahama] is doing, we won’t be complaining about "Dumsor" today.
So please feel free to vote against us for thinking and doing things for a Better Ghana, but you will not only thank us tomorrow, you will live in regret, like we are today, for all the bad things we said and did to Nkrumah.” “What use is fixing Dumsor temporarily only for it to reoccur in 6 or 7 years?”

I have always called for the cautious use of social media. This is the man who wanted to be an MP at Okaikoi Central. I hear he is on his way to Kunbungu to contest the seat there instead. Ras have you forgotten that out of the 24 years of the 4th Republic NDC has enjoyed a whooping 16 years. Are you saying NDC did nothing about power? This is an analysis of your own words. Ras you worked at GBC so I know you are aware the PNDC out of which came NDC also spent 11 years in military rule. 27 years makes the P/NDC the longest serving government in Ghana’s history.

If you have done these analyses your comments would be “vote out NDC for we have failed”. And lest I forget, Ras when Haruna Iddrissu told Ghanaians in parliament that if the NDC did not solve the power crisis by 2009 they would have no excuse, did you agree with him? If only all Ghanaians were floating voters?

Mahama Ayariga, Radio
Journalists are asking useless questions. This is a minister who takes a team to a nation’s cup and tells everybody he will disclose his budget after the tournament. All powerful Ayariga returns with the team after placing second and yet do not want anybody to ask about the budget for the tournament. Till date, the exact amount for the tournament is not known. To make matters worse, the president transfers him to a new ministry when parliament asked the minister to appear before it to account. If Ghanaians were floating voters, this would be punished as an endorsement of corruption.

Buy generator sets instead of relying on the national grid, if Ghanaians are willing to pay more to ensure constant supply of electricity, then they should be willing to buy generator sets. Mr. Minister your comment means your party cannot fix the power crisis so we should arm ourselves with generators.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs, Radio
I came to politics because of “no ko fioo” (because of money). This is a man who boldly said on live radio that he is in politics because of money. God, when did politics become a money making venture rather than service? No wonder our electricity is in crisis. He was probably interested in his sitting allowance and per diem and contributed nothing to making it better. What competence did the educated fisherman send to the ECG board?

For Mr. Jacobs and the younger government communicators, I need to dedicate a whole article to them. Once again am telling all Ghanaians that it is our duty to criticize government but constructively, blindly following party is a sin to mother Ghana.
