FC Copenhagen Boss Solbakken Says Daniel Amartey Not Matured Enough For EPL

FC Copenhagen manager Stale Solbakken has advised multi-talented Ghanaian youngster Daniel Amartey to garner more experience and develop enough before making a move to a bigger league, specifically the English Premiership.

Amartey was reported to be on the radar of several top Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool, but the youngster remained in the Scandinavia, opting for a move to neighbouring FC Copenhagen from Swedish club Djurgårdens.

The 21-year-old has settled in well and impressed with the Danish giants in his first season with Stale Solbakken indicating that the Ghana 2015 AFCON member bid his time in the lower leagues to aid his development before making a move.

"All players are for sale if the price is right, but Daniel cannot play in England now, he has not played enough international matches and doesn't have enough experience to play in the Premier League,” Solbakken said in an interview with Bold.

"He still has much to learn with FC Copenhagen, but also needs to play more international matches and European matches to gain international experience to succeed in England, and I do not think there are many clubs in the Premier League which would fetch him now.

"He has risen rapidly, and it is great for such a young player. He undoubtedly has some interesting qualities, but he will not go to a big league yet, it is too early."

Amartey, 20, can play at right-back, central defence and as a holding midfielder. He earned his first international game with Ghana in January and has since been capped four times.
