Stephen Appiah Backs Hearts To Overcome Esperance

The former Black Stars skipper and Hearts of Oak player believes the Phobians can defeat the Blood & GOLD in the Caf Confederation Cup weekend fixture. Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has claimed that Hearts of Oak can eliminate Tunisian side Esperance in the playoff round of Caf Confederation Cup. The Phobians will face the North Africans on Sunday in Tunis in the first leg tie of the second round of eight. Although concerns have been raised lately about Hearts' inconsistency, Appiah is confident the Accra-based outfit will pull through to the money zone of the competition. Esperance are Esperance and we know their pedigree on the continent. Every year they do well in the Caf inter club competition, so it is logical that they are a threat to Hearts, Appiah told Joy FM. But this is football and anything can happen. When Hearts started this years competition things were not going well but now they are playing well so I believe they can stun Esperance in Tunisia. Hearts just have to go there with determination, aggressiveness and concentration. With these three things I believe they can make it. Hearts of Oak have arrived in Tunis ahead of the clash. Sundays meeting is a repeat of the epic clash between the two sides in the two-legged finals of the 2000 Caf Champions League, with Hearts winning both fixtures to claim their first continental title.
