AUDIO: National Petroleum Authority Justifies Fuel Price Increments

Prices of petroleum products went up by 9% effective Sunday, 17th May, 2015 and even though many are not happy with the increment, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) says it is justified.

Speaking in an interview on Monday’s edition of PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Moses Asaga, Chief Executive of the NPA said the fuel increment was to avoid a fuel shortage.

According to him, the rate of unpaid subsidies is causing a lot of challenges for the Bulk Oil Distribution Companies and so “the increment needed to come to avoid fuel shortage”.

Per the new prices, petrol will now be sold at GHc3.33 per litre while Diesel will be sold at GHc3.24 per litre.

A kilogram of LPG is expected to be sold at GHc2.88, MGO Local will go up GHc2.96.

Unified petroleum is expected to go up by 4% while Kerosene will be up by 9%.
