Arrest Of Family Head In Chinto Chief Murder Case: Family Smells Foul Play

The members of the Chinto Royal family in the Eastern Region, have expressed disgust at the arrest of their Head of Family and Mankrado, for allegedly playing roles in the murder of the late Chief of Chinto, Nana Okotoako Kofi Mankata II. They have therefore raised red flags over the conditions surrounding the arrest of the Family Head.

Information gathered from Chinto indicates that the Chinto Royal Family members suspect the arrest of their Family Head is political and ill-motivated to enable some people fulfill their "ill agenda" of installing a new Chief even though the matter is in court.

Sources within the family told this paper that the issues surrounding the Chinto Stool are in court and that allowing people to install another chief at this moment would not help the course of justice.

According to them, some chiefs have orchestrated the arrest of the Family Head because he has a say in who becomes the next chief of Chinto, therefore, his absence would allow them the free way to do their own biddings without recourse to the laws and due process.

Residents and members of the Royal family are alleging that because of a grand scheme orchestrated by some people to install their preferred candidate as the new Chinto Chief, their Head of Family and Mankrado have been wrongfully arrested and detained.

The situation could however spark violence as indications from within the town are that all is not well and that the arrest of the two family heads is further worsening situations.

It could be recalled that news broke out of the murder of the Chief of Chinto, Nana Okotoako Kofi Mankata II, 54, who was shot dead in March this year in the Eastern region after he returned home with his driver from a funeral.

Three suspects, including Charles Donkor, a 42-year-old land guard suspected to have played a leading role in the murder of Nana Okotoako Kofi Mankata II, 54, were also arrested. According to the police, a foreign pistol, which contained 13 rounds of ammunition, was found in the bush where the suspect was apprehended.
